Hello! Gökhan here, currently pausing in Dubai. I create letters. I craft stories with pictures. I teach people how to look. Between teaching and my practice, I work on research. A combination of typography, editorial and branding design, and visual storytelling. I always go back to Ottoman paintings and 19th-century Ottoman calligraphy and type. I don’t see the past as something to imitate. I use it as a tool to create something new. I read and think about neuroplasticity and creativity. How can design affect our thinking and how do we see the world around us? At the moment, I teach and am being taught by my students in Communication and Image Design at the University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Dubai, and in the BA and MA programs at Istituto Marangoni Dubai... Selâm! Ben Gökhan, şimdilik Dubai’de durakladım. Harfleri yönetiyorum, imgelerle hikâye anlatıyorum ve görmeyi öğretiyorum. Evet, işim öğretmek, araştırmak ve kendi üretimim arasında gidip geliyor: tipografi, editoryal tasarım, markalaşma ve görsel anlatım. Osmanlı tasvir sanatını, hattı ve 19. yüzyıl Osmanlı harflerini seviyorum, onlara hep geri dönüyorum. Geçmişi kopyalanacak bir şey olarak değil, yeni bir şey yapmak için bir araç olarak görüyorum. Bir süredir yaratıcılık ile nöroplastisite üzerine okuyor, kafa yoruyorum. Tasarımın düşünme biçimimizi ve etrafımızdaki dünyayı görme şeklimizi nasıl değiştirebileceğini anlamaya çalışıyorum. Istituto Marangoni Dubai’de ve University of Europe for Applied Sciences Dubai Kampüsü’nde öğrencilerimle ilim alışverişi yapıyor hem öğretiyor hem de öğreniyorum...
